Ways
to save on your electric bills
• When using your washing machine or dishwasher,
do only full loads.
• Clean out your dryer’s lint filter after every
load to
improve air circulation. In addition, clean the vent hose
frequently to prevent a fire.
• In the winter, remember to reverse the blades on your
ceiling fans to reverse the warm air that would otherwise
stagnate at the ceiling.
• Energy for lighting accounts for about 10% of your electric
bill. Get rid of outdated incandescent light bulbs––95%
of
the power used to light them is wasted as heat (plus they
add unwanted heat to your home in the summer).
• Replace the five most-used light bulbs in your home
with
Energy Star compact fluorescent bulbs. They are four
times more efficient than incandescent bulbs and provide
the same light levels. As other bulbs burn out, consider
replacing them with compact fluorescents.
